There exists a variety of options for industries when the time for choosing the right floor has arrived. The decision of choosing the right industrial floor will guarantee a safe and sound production; necessary to carry out an efficient operation.
The fundamental objective should always be the election of the best system for the productive characteristics of the plant. One can choose among an epoxy type polymeric floor, polyurethane, or cement-urethane with 2 mm to 5 mm thickness, or antiacid ceramic with almost 3 cm of thickness. Monolithic flor types vary from epoxy coatings to urethane and resin-based materials. One of the most popular and resistant, currently, is the cement urethane, together with methacrylates and other epoxy varieties. They are specially designed for environments with wet and dry production, where cold and hot temperatures can be found (they can withstand thermal shock from -45°C up to 120°C), where a sanitary floor not able to allow bacteria, like the food industry, with fast putting into service, is needed. They can also deliver an excellent resistance to impacts, abrasion and excessive wearing due to transit, these floors have a very low odor intensity with no volatile organic compounds, which allows them to comply with regulations. They can even be installed in a working plant with no risk of food contamination.
Keeping your floor in good conditions
There exists a series of advices to follow at the time of keeping our floors intact. Processes should be maintained within the resistance limits for which the floor has been designed. It will be necessary to extract the organic materials and reagents like oils, acids, and strong alkalis to prevent unwanted reactions. It will be necessary to keep some consistency in the floor maintenance schedules with repetitive cleaning cycles. A damaged floor will get worse if dirt proliferations and contaminant agents are allowed.
Due to the service area where an industrial floor has been installed, the cleaning process will vary considerably. The floor system should have a superficial texture and high resistance to organic acids. Floors should be dense, impermeable, waterproof and cleaning chemical agents tolerant, for instance sodium hypochlorite, the floors should bear pressure and vapor washing with consistency to keep the environment in healthy conditions. Urethane cement floors, for instance, are excellent for tolerance of temperature differences. Added to this, two considerations: low maintenance and excellent antimicrobial conditions.
